Snow tubing in PA offers you the opportunity to access a number of large, groomed tubing runs that provide safe fun for the whole family. You’ll find dedicated snow tubing resorts in Pennsylvania, tubing areas at ski resorts, and lots of snow to enjoy in the high country of this historic US Northeast state. Here are the best resorts to consider visiting.
- Avalanche Xpress
Located in York, you’ll get to enjoy 7 dedicated lanes for snow tubing to enjoy when the slopes are open for the season. Passes for the season are available or daily passes begin at just $13 for mid-week snow tubing. Night tubing is also available and you can attach laser tag fun for an added $10 to most tickets. Ice skating is also available at this resort, which typically opens in December.
- Camelback Snow Tubing
When it’s the weekend, this resort can get pretty busy. There are up to 42 lanes of tubing available, however, so wait times are generally not very long on most days. Late season sessions can be hit or miss depending on the quality of the snowpack and the air temperature – some negative reviews talk about how they couldn’t complete the run on their snow tube. For winter fun, you can’t beat the value of the sessions with their Tannersville location.
- Shawnee Mountain Ski Area
At this resort, you’re going to be taking the Pocono Plunge. Bring your own snow tubes or rent singles or tandems to have family fun. Two conveyor lifts are available to get you back to the top right away. Sessions begin at specific times and tickets must be purchased on-site, so you’ll need to plan ahead to get some tubing space. The season typically runs from December-March, weather-permitting.
- Jack Frost Mountain
Sessions at Big Boulder or Jack Frost are about 3 hours long, with rates beginning at just $25. You’ll need to fill out a release before going snow tubing, but then be prepared to have a lot of fun. Both resorts have dedicated tubing areas outside of the ski runs so that you don’t have to worry about the traffic. There are also lifts available to help you maximize the time you spend on the run.
- Roundtop Mountain Resort
When there’s a lot of snow on the ground, then this resort offers up to 14 dedicated snow tubing lanes to enjoy. Berms are placed along each lane so that crossing into different sections of the multi-lane hill are prevented in most circumstances. A lift services the hill, the lanes are up to 800 feet in length, and you’ll get to enjoy a vertical drop of 80 feet. A special kid’s area is available for kids 4 and younger who want to enjoy snow tubing as well. Check out their live webcam for current conditions.
